Market day…
July 4, 2013

…is here! The chickens have reached an average weight of 4lbs and are ready to be sold. Each chicken should sell for about 200-250 Haitian Gourds (approx. $5-6), leaving the farmers a well-deserved profit that they can reinvest into chicks. Legrand from pcH enthusiastically tells us how the community has embraced this project and observed the chickens’ development with a bit of awe. Few have seen chickens grow so well and so fast!

We have had very few chicken losses throughout the project, which is another indication of the great training the farmers have received and demonstrates their interest and dedication in exploring ways of chicken production that are new to them.

Even though the chickens are going to market, we certainly hope that this is not the end of the story! Stay tuned to see how we and the community of Zoranger continue to grow with each other!
