ISCA would like to thank Legrand, an agrologist working with Productive Cooperatives Haiti, for taking time to visit Prince Edward Island as part of International Development Week celebrations! It certainly was a busy week with tours of many farms and food processing facilities, public presentations, and meeting with ISCA members to discuss ongoing projects in Haiti. On February 6th, during an event sponsored by ISCA and the PEI Farm Centre Association, Legrand gave a public presentation on the state of food security in Haiti.
The organization he works with in Haiti uses the cooperative model as the basis for addressing food security issues in Haitian communities, primarily through participatory discussions and implementing practical sustainable solutions that meets the communities needs. It was a great opportunity to learn more about what PCH is doing in Haiti and how we can continue to support his efforts there. We hope that Legrand is able to visit us again soon! Many thanks goes to ACIC who assisted in covering the costs in bringing Legrand to Prince Edward Island!
